Inspiration for my fashion editorial

Smocked with wire.
Another take in my inspiration technique
What a clever tutorial: how to smock up some knitting, the easy way after you’ve finished!
Any ideas on when you would add a smocking effect to your knitting?
How exciting! A way to combine the two techniques I’m working with.
Started out as a long dress, then I flipped it upside down and ended up with a cap sleeves motorcycle jacket.
Smocked organza with the threads on the outside. The threads are different shades of my colour palette mustards, aquas and oranges.
Experimenting with holding the back up with a web of orange wool.
Low cut back. Knit neck piece. Trying to puzzle out how to keep the front staying up without attaching it to the neck piece (which is too delicate to hold any weight).
It’s a toss up between a fitted, boned bodice or a skin-toned mesh halter.
finally seem to have found my direction. toiling in colour is such a fantastic idea
So much yellow (Taken with Instagram)
something about this image really grabs me, I think it may be the way her body is revealed through the fabric. so much more sensual than just being nude.
Hopefully my final alteration to my colour palette.
My tutors think I should just do it all in shades of mustard to counteract the complexity of the smocking, but I just can’t only use one colour. I love colour to much for that.
Then I saw this picture of peacock spider and it just fit. They didn’t like my elector blue and hot link accent colours as they felt they were too techno, whereas these colours, while being equally bright, are much more organic.
Shorts are almost finished :)
Just need to add back pockets and belt loops in dk grey leather, and then some thick white stitching on the front pockets so the white zipper looks less odd.
Shorts progress at the end of today. Tomorrow I will sew on the facings, zipper and do the pant cuffs. Then I’m going to make two leather patch pockets for the back. Still trying to decide if I want to top stitch the seams in white.
I’m making myself a pair of shorts. As a girl with a small waist and large hips & thighs finding shorts that look good on me is near impossible. So I’m using my holiday time to make myself a pair.
I’ll post more pics as I progress.
